Quantum Week 3-7 March 2025

Within the context of the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology proclaimed by the United Nations, the European Center for Quantum Sciences of the University of Strasbourg and the CNRS is organising a series of events during the week of 3-7 March 2025 at its premises on the Campus in Cronenbourg. The programme will unfold over the entire week and will cover different aspects of quantum science, technology and innovation including dedicated sessions for the local and regional quantum ecosystem, industry, schools and the general public.

Quantum sciences and technologies are witnessing today the second revolution which draws upon decades of scientific and technological advances that are progressively bringing to reality breakthroughs in technologies such as quantum quantum computing and quantum sensing that will radically change and impact the future of our digital societies. As classical computers are approaching the physical limits of current technologies, our ability to manipulate, control and assemble isolated quantum objects (atoms, photons, ions, spins) for quantum information processing has the potential to open up completely new horizons in terms of solving industrially and societally-relevant challenges such as chemistry and sustainability, drugs and materials discovery, optimisation in finance and logistics, etc. At the same time, it is widely recognized that the current shortage of skilled and trained professionals  in quantum sciences and technologies represents a major bottleneck that needs to be addressed in order to reach the full potential of this promising field.

With this open event we would like to gather stakeholders and partners from research, education and innovation that have already started their “quantum journey” or are interested in getting to learn and explore the opportunities and promise quantum technologies hold for the future.

The programme will include the following themes:

  • 3 March 2025 – Cross-border tri-national cooperation in the Upper Rhine Valley
    • Quantum Week opening
    • Launch of the Interreg project UpQuantVal.
  • 4 March 2025 – Regional quantum ecosystem in the Grand Est
    • Inauguration of the Maison du Quantique/House of Quantum Grand Est MaQuEst
  • 5 March 2025 – Public outreach open day – Programme and registration
    • Interactive exhibition for schools and general public
    • Workshop for teachers
  • 6 March 2025: Quantum businesses day
  • 7 March 2025: Hackaton

Detailed programmes and registration links for the different events will be made available during the month of January 2025.
